Got Wine?

by Linda 11/22/2008 3:04:00 PM

Thanksgiving is this Thursday.
How did that happen?
Are you ready?
I sure am NOT!
But I do know what wine I'll be serving : )

And that reminds me.
We'll be open FRIDAY Saturday and Sunday this coming weekend 12 - 5 and if you're entertaining family and friends bring em around for a taste of some local wine.

Friday begins the offical holiday mad rush and if you're cutting back this year like most of us, check us out for some special, inexpensive locally produced gifts.  Besides wine, we have homemade jam, wine soap and pottery made by local potter Malea Rhodes.

Wine inventory is dwindling and we're not anticipating being open too many more weekends but you can always call or email about availability.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I'll take the red

by Linda 11/3/2008 4:30:00 AM

We have 2 cases left of our new red wine Frontenac.

We know that weekends are busy, and if you can’t get to the winery soon but would like some wine, just email or call and we’d be happy to hold an order for you.  And even though we are only open for tastings on weekends, if you need to pick up some wine during the week, give us a call.  We’re usually around for pick up.

Try the Apple Harvest Sparkler

by Linda 10/23/2008 5:04:00 PM

I confess that I generally like a semi dry or semi sweet wine over dry. When we closed the winery for the season last year, all we had left were a few cases of our dry apple wine.  I have found that this recipe is perfect for adding a slightly sweeter taste to our dry apple wine and also makes a bottle of wine go farther if you’re hosting a party.

If you have a chance to stop by and taste our wines, don’t forget to give our sparkler a try too.

It’s a great addition to any fall/holiday get together.

A few simple ingredients are all you need.1 bottle of Pioneer Valley Vineyard Dry Apple Wine½ cup triple sec½ cup fresh squeezed orange juice (1 -2 oranges)1 lime1 lemon½ cup sugar1 ½ cups sparkling water (1-12 oz. can seltzer water)In a pitcher or punch bowl mix together the wine, triple sec, orange juice and sugar.Add the juice of half of the lemon and lime.Slice the remaining half of lemon and lime and add the slices to the sparkler.Cover in refrigerator for at least 4 hours. When ready to serve, add the sparkling water.Serve with apple wedges dipped in lemon if desired and/or apple skin curls.

Cranberries Cranberries Any and Everywhere

by Linda 10/14/2008 4:09:00 AM

Ever wonder what 300 lbs of cranberries looks like?

25 pound boxes X 12 boxes = more cranberries than we have room for!

But aren’t they beautiful?  Wonderful, organically grown cranberries from Cranberry Hill in Plymouth Mass.

Soon to be next year’s cranberry wine.

Winery update:  The Frontenac Red and cranberry wine are getting limited.  If you'd like some but can't get to the winery right away, let us know and we'd be happy to put some aside for you.

A few more pictures from opening weekend

by Linda 10/11/2008 8:38:00 AM

The front of the winery dressed in its fall best

2 cuties sitting on pumpkins they just bought while their parents sampled the wines.

So if you’re in the area, stop in for some pumpkins or squash, a taste of home made jam or a sampling of wine.  It’s a beautiful weekend for a drive through Hatfield.

Hope to see you here!

You like us! You really like us! : )

by Linda 10/7/2008 6:06:00 PM

Thank you! Thank you to all who came to our opening weekend.

Along with lots of new people, (and a big thanks to those who tasted at the big E with us and came to our opening) what really thrilled us were the people who came back from last year.

Some  people literally just came in and started filling their arms with bottles from the shelf without even tasting first.  That's the biggest compliment we could receive.

Here's a pic of the inside of the winery before we opened.  All ready for the big weekend.

Thanks too for all the wonderful comments about our new addition, Frontenac red wine.  We're already down to the few remaining cases of it.

This wine connoisseur gives it his stamp of approval.

More pictures to come as soon as I can get them posted.

We're open every weekend until the end of December (or until we run out of wine, whichever comes first) so please stop in for free wine tastings.

Opening Weekend October 4th

by Linda 9/30/2008 4:32:00 AM

Opening Saturday October 4th 12 – 5Starting this Saturday we will be open weekends starting at noon until 5 pm.

We’re planning a few special things for this weekend so if you’re in the neighborhood, we’d love to have you stop in and try our latest vintage.

Come sample the chocolate fountain as we celebrate our new Red Frontenac wine made only from our own red grapes. We only have a very limited amount of this variety this year so if you like dry red wine, be sure to stop by sooner rather than later to try some.

It will be a fun weekend and we hope you can make it and if not, we’ll be open weekends until we run out of wine.

How to draw a crowd

by Linda 9/27/2008 3:48:00 PM

It’s quite easy we discovered.

Simply open a few bottles of wine.

That was all it took at the Big E.

We were given an opportunity that we could not resist  to offer wine tastings at the Eastern States Exposition last Friday.

We had barely set up a table and hadn’t even gotten the display set when we were bombarded by eager people willing to try our wines.

You can almost see Josh behind the crush of people.

Here's a better picture of our set up.

It was a blast.  We had an awesome time and met wonderful people.  It went by so fast.  We ran out of everything except wine which I guess is the most important thing.

It was raining (one of the reason there aren’t more pictures of the Great New England Fair) and in the end we were so glad it was and there were less people since we would have been totally unable to cope if there were more.

.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by to try our wine.

Today, Saturday is no time to rest.  We labeled and capsuled all the wines in preparation for opening next weekend. Hope to see you there.
